View Full Version : MPG to DVD/SVCD ?

Just wondering if there is, or is planned, a way to convert from a DVD compliant MPG 2 stream (captured video) to DVD/VCD/SVCD? Do I just need to create an IFO of my source for DVD to whatever conversion, or is there a direct way to use the .mpg file?
I'd prefer to use the Roba technique for the speed of the conversion as well as the quality. Primarily this to ensure my source fits a SL DVD-R.
Thanks.

????????????????????????????????????
Ever read ONE guide/FAQ/BASICS??

It's all there.
True enough, seek and ye shall find :)
Easiest way - copy an IFO file from another movie to a folder with no vobs in it. Select this for conversion with DVD2SVCD.
DVD2SVCD will ask you to load the manually. Change the File Type box to MPEG2 files and browse for your captured stream.
It will then convert no problem.
I am assuming your capture is too big to fit on a single-layer disc and therefore needs re-encoding. If the source is DVD-compliant and less than 4.7GB, all you need is an authoring tool. TMPGEnc DVD Author is easy, as is DVD Lab. DVDAuthorGUI is free!

If the source was captured (DVB-S or DVB-T) then you should not author the MPEG file directly, you should instead use PVAStrumento or ProjectX first to correct and convert the MPEG transport stream to a program stream (and demux the source at the same time).

Always one person that posts this.
As per the forum rules, I did look, read the q&a and all that. I did not find what I needed, hence my post. I appreciate that some people don't read the faqs and docs but others do and post legitemate questions they wish to have answered. Receiving the all too familiar "Just read something stupid" response is both tired and very inconsiderate and tends to make new users feel unwelcome. Might I suggest a more tackfull way of getting your point across by saying you have seen this answered in a document and post a link to its location? This fully provides a conclusion to the problem and most likley a greatful "thank you" from the user which I think we can agree is a much more amicable solution to condescension.
