Hey, recently I found out about ratDVD and I was really excited about it, but compressing a dvd with it from 6.8 -> 3.3 gigs at maximum quality led to unacceptable quality, and trying to go from that .ratDVD -> a dvd9 led to a 3.8 gig file with terrible quality. Is there anything I can use to compress a dvd, even if just to archive it, with decent comrpession rates that will allow me to later rebuild the dvd to full size? RARing and ZIPing hardly reduce files size at all (or sometimes increase it), is there anything similar to RAR that would actually save me space? I don't care about playing the file in the compressed format, I'd just like some more space on my drives. ~thanks in advance

You will never get the full size back with any software. Once data is taken out, not much can be done to get it back to the way it was.

DVD Shrink is probably the easiest way to archive and keep it as DVD format. Most DVD's can be compressed by up to 50%. More space can be saved by just archiving the movie.
