I often find myself constantly tweaking the hidden targetsectors setting and, for me anyway, it would be great if this could be put into the Pro version in the GUI.
I know You have stated that you hated adding this in at all, but if I ask for a inch might as well ask for a mile.
Ok now you may shoot me.
Thanks,
Mark

I like the idea, also. Using a different Matrix, other than the default in HC or QuEnc., I sometimes can get an oversize (ex. 4493Mb) or undersize ex. 4000Mb) VOB's. With most matrices I can get by with TargerSectors=2261000. However, I use some wild Xvid Matrices that are all over the map in size. I import them with the "Rockas Rebuilder Matrix Editor". So, having the TargerSectors settings at your finger tips would be helpful.
Lastly, for those people that screwup their TargetSectors while playing in the Rebuilder.ini, then complain that there is a problem with DVD-RB, there should be a "click to default" TargetSectors setting. That is if jdobbs is so inclined.:)

The problem is that there are a lot more people who set it incorrectly and complain about oversizing than people who request to make it accessible. I honestly have thought seriously about removing it...

It would be nice if the pro version had all the most commonly used hidden settings in an advanced tab rather than just a few advanced options in the menu. That way there could also be a 'experts-only' disclaimer or whatever and a 'reset to default' button. But whatever, I'm extremely content with Rebuilder the way it is.

jdobbs does 1 sector still equal 2 kilobytes?
So to completely fill a DVD5 (say, 4480 megabytes) you would use TargetSectors=2293760?
4480 * 1024 / 2 = 2293760
am I missing anything?

I would use the little formula I give here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=532198#post532198) to calculate your TargetSectors setting. I find that if you calculate it mathematically with 2k=1 sector, DVD-RB tends to oversize slightly.
Also, even with multi-pass encoding DVD-RB's output varies by +/- 10MB. I wouldn't target above 4.36GB unless you don't mind the occasional oversized disc.

From what I gather then 1 sector equals roughly 2.02 or 2.03 kilobytes? Is this the actual value or is it just a result of DVD-RB being slightly innacurate when calculating output size?

A sector is always 2048 bytes. But encoders are not 100% accurate.
