Anyone able to encode VOB files with DivX 6 yet?

Every time I have tried to encode VOB files from my DVDs in either GK (not auto) or the extremely crappy Divx converter I have been unsuccessful. Can anyone confirm if GK is working with Divx 6?

I've had no luck. I've tried several VOBs. The Converter seems to be done after sufficient time, but there's no message and no product. The only thing I have successfully converted is an MPEG1 video. And, tomorrow my trial period ends.

With a registery hack to choose the saving location, no mark-in/out, and a few other serous shortcomings, I consider Converter to be pretty worthless. So, I'm not too worried about not being able to get it to work. With the loss of Dr Divx, I've pretty much have switched from Divx to Nero Recode AVC.

Yes, I'm very surprised by this major step backward in the DivX encoding app. Compared to Dr. Divx, this new converter is absolutely worthless.

I have had luck, like yourself, in encoding an MPEG 1 stream to DivX, but the lack of options leave much to be desired. Right now, I would settle just for the ability to encode VOB files, even without advanced config. options.

i recently encoded my "The Ring" R1 DVD, with english dolby digital audio 2-ch and english subtitles to .divx using converter, i got a 0.99 gb file , i used home theater profile, the picture quality was actually quite good, and the subs were also ok!

Chip, Doobie, can you explain a little bit more about what is happening when you try to encode VOB's using Converter? Are you getting specific error messages? You also might try using different ripping settings/application. Converter needs the ripping to be done in IFO mode. I've used it to encode a number of VOB's.

i renamed my vobs to mpeg and divxconverter converted them, but my copy of divxcconverter converts vobs fine.

i read some posts at divx.com and found out that some people experienced problems in ifo mode and after using dvd shrink it worked.

because of the lack of control in divxconverter i uninstalled it and im still using dr divx, if i want to add subs to it i use srt2bmp2xsub available here at doom9(fastantic tool)

As I've said "there's no message." I've been directly selecting the VOBs to encode. I don't know if that is the problem. But, it doens't matter until they release a new version with a new expiration, my time is up.

I always extract my VOB files in IFO mode, and it does not seem to be movie-specific. It looks like the converter is loading them all but not parsing them correctly. No matter. I'm not really interested in using the DivX converter. I would much rather see a working solution with GK which, by the way, has anyone got working?

I've had some luck now. But, I'll still have to play around to find out why it didn't work with me before.

I still am having no luck. When trying to invoke the DivX 6 settings through a standard encode using VirtualDub I still get error 5025 in my event log.

Is ANYONE getting this DivX 6 to encode VOB files without having to do some trickery? I'm beginning to think this may be a hardware conflict somewhere down the lines.

i recommend u posting in divx forums at www.divx.com, as most people are having no divx 6 conflicts! those are official divx dudes and might help u more properly!
