I have a one hour .avi that I want to reencode to 350mb, everything works great except it takes an hour to analyze the source before the demuxing and encoding starts. Is this normal for .avi input sources?
thanks,

PC is a P4 3.0Ghz normally I get about 40 frames per second encodes.
Here's the logfile. It failed. I suspect the avi might be corrupt somehow. The original avi plays fine.
Thanks,

Another thing I noticed. In the Interlace.log file it says
false - I don't know what "b" means
This is on every line of the interlace.log file.
weird, huh?

Have a look at AutoGK FAQ Q 6.7.

Thanks, I merged the reg file. I'm rerunning the encode. Back to my original question, should the "analyzing source" part take an hour? It looks like it will end up being that long again.
Thanks again,

Decoding of xvid material via dshow takes much more CPU time than normal decoding of usual MPEG2 (DVD) material (2-3 times at least, more if some advanced options are used).
