i'm screwed aren't I? before you say yes, here's my story. i have samsung sd-612 dvd drive, and it only works in PIO mode (not DMA) in win xp. this translates to dvds being ripped at ridiculously slow speeds to my HD (think 40 mins per each dvd). Anyway.. at those speeds, I ripped the second disc of 24 Season 2. After ripping the discs, I was low on disc space so I transferred the VOB and IFO files to another computer and deleted themto make room. I DIDN'T send the stream information.txt files (cause i'm a dumbass and I thought txt files are logs that decrypter creates for users incase something went wrong during the process). Now I'm screwed aren't I? AutoGK gives me an error, and says the stream info file is missing. Is there any solution? Re-ripping the DVD is out of the question, it would take way too long and I lent out the discs so I don't even have access to them now. Is there to custom make the stream info.txt files?

I opened the streaminfo.txt file for the last two episode that I ripped, and it looks like everything is constant except for LBA (which varies greatly from one to the next). Can I extract LBA info from my VOBs? I'm screwed, aren't I? Any other way to use AutoGK to convert these VOBs into a singular Xvid? Thanks folks.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

You have three choices. You could manually build a stream information text file for use with AutoGK, using any IFO rip .txt file as the skeleton.
You could switch to a different encoding suite that does not use the .txt file, such as GK
You could ask for your disc back from the person you loaned it to. Just as an FYI, backups of rental discs or backups of loaned discs owned by friends are not considered Fair Use by this forum. For more info, see the Piracy & Copyright section of www.doom9.org/disclaimer.htm.

hi jggimi. thanks. ofcourse i own the disc and understand the copyright rules of the forum. i just don't want to re-rip the disc as my dvd rom drive is very slow and takes forever to rip, as i have mentioned. can you please explain option 1 a bit more (i'm a n00bie). i do have the IFO files.. but not the stream info.txt files. I also see an option in AutoGK that says file input instead of DVD input. So, if there is any way to combine both VOBs into a singular VOB, then I could simply chose that VOB and make Xvid out of it.. couldn't I? I tried VOBedit, but it doesn't let me make a VOB bigger than 1GB. any way to do that?

thanks again.

...an you please explain option 1 a bit more...I also see an option in AutoGK that says file input...

See http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=93978&highlight=faking and the referenced link inside it, too.

...I tried VOBedit, but it doesn't let me make a VOB bigger than 1GB...

A "vob set" typically contains multiple vob files, each 1GB in size, except the last. See http://www.doom9.org/dvd-structure.htm for more info.

VOBedit's "Join clip" may be used for some procedures, but I don't think it's necessarily applicable here. Here's the author's web page on using "join clip" for two different needs:

Don't worry about the LBA difference, AutoGK doesn't use that info. Go ahead and fake the stream info text.
