Ok, after vacation I transferred all my vacation pictures to hard-drive. I thought, hey wht don't I try to make a DVD of the pictures so the gradparents could watch them. Well the RAID 0 got confused and it was a week before my monthly backup. All I have of my vacation with my son to Disney World is this DVD. I would like to somehow get the pictures back on my harddrive so I can print them and do other things. I used Nero to make the DVD of the pics. I think there were roughly 250 pics. Please help me get my pics back? Also is the quality going to be bad?

You want to copy the pictures from the DVD back into your computer? As long as the DVD is not scratched etc., just copy/paste the data into your hard drive. Did you face any issues with this?

Well, sorry if I didn't make that point clear. I made a movie of the pictures and put it on a DVD. There are the .ifo's and .vob's and such on the DVD as current. I (wish) I could extract the .jpg's out of them and my marriage would be happy again.

Load the VOBs in DGIndex (part of the DGMPGDec package -- see my site below). Scroll on the timeline to the desired picture. Then do File/Save BMP. Convert to JPG in a graphics program if needed. Enjoy your wife.

I'm curious after this amount of time has passed, is there a newer program out that will pull the pictures and save them automatically? Saving one at a time is taking alot more time than I want it to. No, I haven't been pulling pic's for 2 years. I just do a few every once in awhile. There's a thousand pic's or so I believe. I don't remember the exact number. But they are of the Daytona 500. What a blast that was.

I know that some commercial DVDs have extras that are just a string of pictures that are played as a slideshow - if you decrypted the individual PGCs with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode, used ffdshow and your favorite media player to play them and set it to grab every frame, it would generate new image files just by playing them.

Hi!I'm curious after this amount of time has passed, is there a newer program out that will pull the pictures and save them automatically?How about older and "automatic"?
Use TMPGEnc as follows:
1) Drag and drop a .VOB onto the main TMPGEnc window
2) File>>Output to File>>Sequence BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG file

I don't know if it makes alot of difference, but the DVD is a video slide show created with Nero. When I drag and drop .VOB's onto the TMPGEnc main window all there is, is a black image. I go thru the steps as specified and all that is output is 1 black jpg. Am I missing something?
If I play the DVD in Media player, there's a title and every pic is it's own chapter. Does that change things?

Does the filename show up in the "Video source" box?
If not, try raising the priority of the "MPEG-2 Video plugin" under Option>>Environmental Settings>>VFAPI plugin

I don't have a MPEG-2 Video Plugin..... that could be a problem?yes, if you're dealing with .VOBs - they're just enhanced MPEG-2s...
I believe that the plugin is now legitimately available as freeware. See the following link:

There are so many "hidden" features in the older versions of TMPGEnc - and it's always a pleasure to share them with others ;>}
