Notch Filter

I have a Phillips 20'' TV that, on the side, has a headphone jack built-in. It was one of the reasons that I bought the TV so I could it with my nice headphones. I didn't know that there was going to be so so so much line noise though! It's like a big HHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM sound constantly, and is very headache-worthy. I heard that making a custom notch filter might help by eliminating those high/low frequencies? I have never heard of a notch filter before and that's why I'm posting about it. Is this possible?

Here's me speculation: try using another outlet preferrably far away from the existing one. I think you have a "ground-loop" problem. I doubt that the notch filter is going to work. If it does work then your tv's defective! The headphone jack is manufactured to work without any assistance with whatever.

20" tv is not that heavy to test around, good luck.

Oh, I have no solution to cure your ground-loop, google will.

This "Mantelstromfilter" did the trick for me !!!
