hi there,

I have a region 2 copy of Boogie Nights which im trying to copy to my hard drive. i tried using dvd shrink but it freezes up during analysis, on both my desktop and notebook

i then tried dvd decrypter which worked just fine, but when i play the files back on my hard drive there is no audio and no video and the timing stops at about 8s

i demuxed the video and audio and they wont even play separately. the dvd works fine when i play it on my stand-alone connected to my tv

any suggestions would be great?!

@MasterSource

How does the original disk play in your computer (try both the notebook and the desktop)? Also, did DVD Decrypter generate a log when ripping the original? Any error messages? What you described almost sounds like unreadable sectors on your disk, which you may have Decypter set up to ignore. (?)

I'm fairly certain that BOOGIE NIGHTS isn't using structure protection, but just in case, you could try using a newer ripper like DVDFab Decrypter (free) and see what happens. And even though it sounds stupid... it's happened to all of us at some time or another: Make sure the disk is free of smudges, fingerprints, ect. If your drives can't read it, a ripper can't rip it. I don't know how things are in your household, but my standalones tend to be far more forgiving of peanut-butter fingerprints (got kids?) than my PC drives.

hi there,

thanks for the suggestions. the dvd wouldnt play in my dektop or notebook, or indeed a few of my friends computers. it worked fine on several stand-alone players though

no luck either with DVDfab decrypter (it just froze). so as a last resort, i opened up the disc in explorer and manually copied over the encrypted files to the hard drive. then used dvd shrink and it worked!
