How to make and image of a game....

I know this is a DVD based forum, but that is why I am posting in the general discussion and I hope that this is ok. I appologize if this is not allowed and if so, feel free to delete this post. I just got a new game for my birthday, it is called "The Punisher" When I go off to college this fall I want to be able to leave the CD's for the game at home, so they dont get stolen. I have a NO-CD crack that works fine, but I would also like to have an image of the CD's on my computer as backups in case the originals get scratched or something. Every ripping software that I tried to use to accomplish this, When I tried to load the image on a virtual drive I got an error that said conflict with Disc Emulator Software detected. Its only with this image that I get this error, all my movie images work fine. Therefore I'm assuming its the program that made the image that has the problem, not the emulator. I've used to make the images: Alcohol 120%, CloneCD Trial. For the virtual drive things I've tried Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools. When I was using Alcohol 120% to make the image I just said make image. For CloneCD they give options of what kind of CD you are making. I tried Protected PC Game.

If you have a no cd patch for it, all you need to do to copy your disks is simply copy the files to a folder (make sure you have any hidden files accessible) and you are done. The only reason to use CloneCD, Alcohol or any other copy programs is so you can copy the anti-copy protection as well as the contents of the cd's to make your legally allowed backup.

If you want to make images for backup, ISOBuster or WinISO should do the trick.

I have read that the quality of your CD reader has a lot to do with the ability to backup your game. It needs to be able to read DAO,SAO, etc., I believe I read about it in a CloneCD forum somewhere.

As a side note, I bought my kids a "Caillou" game CD that allows you to make one backup as written in the copyright. Those people know how rough kids are on CD/DVD's and are kind enough to allow a fair use backup.

If you had a real good CD/DVD Crack then as long as you copied the CD correctly, even without any 'special' procedures it usually should work.

But.....

The be on the safe side, 'The Punisher' is a SecuROM 5 game so choose 'Securom *NEW (4.*/5.*)' as the datatype whilst copying in Alcohol.
