View Full Version : Swapping channels in stereo AC3 track?

I have a movie where the left and right channels of the AC3-audio-track are interchanged.
Is it possible to swap the 2 stereo-channels in an AC3 track?
A method without further de/encoding (to WAV or other) would be best.
Does anyone know of a tool that can do this?
Thanks for any help.
Noone knows how to change left and right tracks for an AC3-audio file?
Damn... unfortunately neither Sound Forge nor Wavelab can read AC3 tracks. I really don't know what to do.

Decoding to WAV is simple : take BeSweet + BeSweetGUI from the download area and it will do the job. Encoding back to AC3 is a problem. As I can understand, freeware AC3 encoder in BeSweet is "low quality", albeit nobody could tell me yet, what does "low quality" mean here.
Another option is to encode sound in MP2, but I heared the rumor that most desktop players in US do not support MP2 stereo.

You could get ac3 files which dont play vey well on a dvd-player. The reason why dspguru removed it from besweet a long time ago was because it was so terribly buggy.

Removed ? Long time ago ? I'm sorry, but am I in the different universe ? I have BeSweet v 1.5b30 and Ac3Enc.dll is there...
What I am doing wrong ?
I heared that most players in US do not play MP2 stereo. If this is
true - why nobody made decent AC3 encoder yet ? MY player is
made in China - it plays EVERYTHING.

I have BeSweet 1.5b30 and BeLight 0.22b4 and have converted mp3 to stereo AC3 with no problems at all.
I would try it, the conversion time is pretty quick. You may have to go to WAV and back to AC3, but it should work. Either that or rewire your speakers!

Error 85: support for ac3enc.dll had been removed due it its suckness!
It has been often mentioned that the ac3enc.dll has a couple of problems, so i dont know why you havent seen it before in "your universe".
Bottom line is that if you want good ac3's you're better of with a commercial alternative. Just search this forum for all the problems. If your are just playing arround and dont want to pay big $$, well ac3enc.dll be what you want.
I also heard headac3he has an improved version of ac3enc.dll, but i havent tried it. Maybe thats worth a shot?
EDIT
here is an old quote from myself
I've heard that the cheaper brand dvd-player you use, the bigger the chance it will play your files. The "real" brands like sony and pioneer can bee pretty picky about what they can handle and what not. I've got a cheap divx player and it can handle everything... even seperate ac3 and dts files.
