View Full Version : AutoGK puts random frame in frame 3 position when converting from DV-AVI file

I have been converting DV-AVI files captured from TV (PAL). After creating the file using AutoGK (85% quality, 640 fixed width, 192 VBR) I noticed a flicker at the start of the resulting video that was not there in the original. On stepping through the video I notice that it has grabbed a single frame from about frame 5500 and put it in as frame 3. It does not always do it, but when it does it for a given input file it will always do it for that file - irrespective of the quality, width, or audio setting. It happens frequently, happening about 50% of the time. And when it does do it, the spurious frame is always frame 3. I tried using both 2.07b (which I prefer because it is faster and produces smaller files for the same settings - another mystery), and 2.09b. Both exhibit the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a solution?

Have you test with Dv codec Panasonic ?

Yes, I am using that. I tried rerunning all the clips I had made earlier, and this time some that had experienced the odd frame 3 insertion came out OK, but others ended up with the inserted frame. I'm sure there must be a reason for it - particularly seeing as the frame always ends up in position 3 - but it is a bit beyond my understanding of how the program operates.

Its DShow decoder that is doing that (or avisynth directshow fuction, but I doubt). Try using different decoder (i.e. ffdshow). You can examine what is used for decoding via GSpot.

Thanks, but now I'm a bit confused. According to Gspot, I am already using the ffdshow decoder.

then you might wanna try using something else for decoding...
