Crop & Resize PLEASE (I have already read the guides)

Hi to all you pixels-guru. Please help me.. I'm a newbye on IAR/PAR crop-resize.

I have already read the guides, particularly

but I'm still confused...

I have a Terratec Cinergy600 PAL (SAA7108 chip).
Say I have captured a film TV at 720x576.

Then, I want to archive it digitally with some codec, to play next on PC (AR 1:1 not interlaced) and also on a TV (4:3 interlaced).

So, what must I do? Crop at 702x576, and then resize it at 768x576 as suggested in cap4.4 (as in the first example), leaving interlaced?

Also, If I capture an interlaced TV film at
720x576 with vertical black borders, after the crop I have a 720x392.

Then to adjust the AR, what should I do?
According to the guide, should I make 392/1.0940 =358.3,
so my final resolution (with correct 4:3 PAL AR) should be 720x358 ??

Resuming:
capture 720x576
crop 720x392
resize 720x358

Is this procedure correct to have the correct AR?

I also play my files with BSPlayer that has a menu video->AspectRatio where you have Original or 4:3
So if I have captured a file at 720x576 could I display it with the "4:3" setting to have it automatically corrected?

And in the case I explained before, (720x358), should I display it with "original" setting?

Yup, or a scaling of it like 640x480. I would deinterlace it when you want to encode it for your pc. Make sure you deinterlace before you do the resizing.

and also on a TV (4:3 interlaced).
For encoding to mpeg-2? Just cap at 720x576 and you don't need to resize further.

But what I mean is watching on TV from a PC, using it as a video server, using output of video card.
Do you think it is good deinterlacing also when you will show it on a TV from a PC?

And also I don't think using only MPEG2 but it could be also MJPEG or DIVX.
So I would take it resolution independent, but I want to preserve my AR as I have original recorded from TV.

So, as in my second post, when you crop vertical black lines what do you do?

The terratec cinergy 600 uses a saa7134 chip, not a SAA7108. It is identical to the cinergy 400, only it has an FM radio option added. So you can simply follow the examples for the Cynergy 400.

For DVD, the best would be capping at 704x576 and simply process it as a 704x576 mpeg2, since 704 is an allowed resolution for DVD too.

If you cap at 720, you are stretching the picture horizontally.

Ok, thanks for the added info on chip and DVD resolution.

BUT,

What if I want to archive my captures not for DVD purpose?
For example I want to archive with MJPEG at a final res of 384x576 horizontal px
Then should I:

1) cap at 704x576 as you suggested (also to keep more original resolution)
2) crop at (for example) 704x392 (to remove black vertical lines)
3) resize
(according to guide cap.16.5.1 example2, as I think also philips saa7134PAL chip has an PAR equal to saa7138PAL - the examples for Cinergy400 are in NTSC... - ):

384 (final res) / 704 (source res) = 0,5455

392 (cropped vertical res) / 1.1189 (PAR of card capture at 720x576: 1.3675 * 576 / 704 = 1.1189) = 330

330 x 0,5455 = 180 (final vertical res)

final resize: 384x180


Is it ok ???
Should be correct the final AR?
