really interlaced?

hi guys, i just copy 1 dvd, and i used dgindex it says that my movie is interlaced, but when i tried to open with vdub, i don't see any interlaced or combing effect...so does it mean it's really interlaced? do i need to deinterlace it or not?

I'm going to make a sticky guide about this because it's really getting tiresome to repeat it over and over.

DGIndex does not tell you your clip is interlaced! It tells you whether pictures are coded using interlaced or progressive MPEG2 coding.

To tell if your clip has interlaced content, use DGIndex with field operation None (now called Honor Pulldown in 1.4.0), apply separatefields, and step though the fields in a high motion scene. If every field is a different picture, then the content is interlaced. If you have pairs of fields, each field of a pair from a single picture, then it is progressive.

For instance, most (if not all) PAL movie DVD's are progressive but are flagged as being interlaced.

That said, the more interlaced content one sees, the easier it is to spot!
