Hello DivX,
It would seem people are experimenting using "DivX Converter" to create "DivX Media Format" encodes, with streams placed within the .divx container.
May I ask you guy's to confirm whether any stand-alone player manufacturers have been in discussion with you about adding firmware upgrades to their existing players?
By-the-way, earlier today I generated an .divx test encode with 3No MP3 audio (and 6No subtitle) streams.
I span the encode in my Pioneer DV-575A player. And even though the player was able to detect all three audio streams, it was unable to select between them. The same thing happened with the subtitle streams - but I was expecting this.
Cheers

I'm sorry Sagittaire but I have not got a clue what your posts are trying to say in relation to my question about the DivX Media Format!
Which is: -May I ask you guy's [DivX] to confirm whether any stand-alone player manufacturers have been in discussion with you about adding [full DivX Media Format] firmware upgrades to their existing players?
Cheers

Thank you for the compatibility chart, Saggitaire!
I've tested DivX Media Format with my Blu-Sens by Ascomtec (model DVD3005) with the last update (from 10_06_2005).
Video: OK
Soundtracks: OK
Subtitle streams: KO
*.divx extension: OK
*.avi extension: OK

Hello DivX,
May I ask you guy's to confirm whether any stand-alone player manufacturers have been in discussion with you about adding firmware upgrades to their existing players?
Hi SeeMoreDigital,
As much as I'd like to confirm this one way or the other, it really is up to the manufacturers whether they release full support for DivX media files via a firmware upgrade, or only in new players. We work with all of the manufacturers to ensure that they can support the format fully, but these kind of choices are not made by our team. You could start lobbying your favorite manufacturer for firmware.. ;)
We released an update to DivX Converter the other day that may correct some compatibility issues. Some players allow you to switch tracks via the remote, some through a menu. Does the Revelations fan movie work?

Thanks for the information update. However, it would still be useful to have some kind of indication as to player manufacturers who've approached you so far :)
May I ask, has DXN contacted any of the player manufacturers directly to make them aware of .divx's advance features?
With regard to the Revelations movie, I would love to try it but I'm not prepared to install bit-torrent software on my PC...
Cheers

After a few more tests:
I usually bacup my dvds with dvd shrink or dvddecrypter and divx converter would read the vobs and recognize the subs and all would be played in the pc.
On my divxplayer the only thing not recognized would be multiple audio tracks.
After I updated divx converter:
Divx converter recognizes audio and subs. after converting, the multiple subs are not viewable either on pc or standalone player, but when i use divxplayer(software) it still recognizes the multiple subs, I select to play them but nothing appears onscreen.
This is not a problem as i still use drdivx for my backups and for adding to it subs i use the srt2bmp2xsub tool that does a lot better job than divxconverter does with subs.
I will run some more tests and post something tomorrow

Just wondering. I am in the market for a new dvd player, and I would like to get one that supports divx/xvid. Preferably I would like that player to support the .ogm container, but I dont think those exist yet. I would like the player to have network capabilities, so I can serve out movies from my computer to it. A HDD is a plus. Just wondering what players you guys suggest that have these features? I know Kiss makes one with a HDD and a network port, are there any others?
What are your guys' experiences with these players?
Oh divx 6 support would be nice too.
