I work for a company that produces DVD's with educational content. We would like to take portions from the DVD's and convert them so they will be viewable as streams on our website. I don't want to do full VOB conversions.

Is there any software that I can purchase do do all of this 100% legally?

I am not sure what the final format will be. It could be WMV, MPG, QUICKTIME, or AVI. Heck, I may even convert it to FLV format. Any suggestions for the best format for streaming web content are also appreciated.

Thanks for any help!

Hello, and welcome to the Forum!

Here's a link to a very good basic Streaming Video Tutorial (http://www.mediacollege.com/video/streaming/overview.html). After becoming more familiar with the ins and outs of the task you've laid out, you might have answered some of your own questions and have more specific issues to address. I'm not trying to say, "Read this, and figure it out for yourself," all I'm saying is, "Read this and see if it helps get you started." :)

Feel free to add to this thread, or maybe, open a thread in the NLE's Forum if you move on to a good NLE (non-linear editor) for compressing your files to streaming format. Good luck!
