telecide problem

hi guys, i just got progressive pal with interlaced artifact. i tried to use

telecide(order=1,guide=2)

and the result is just okay, the movement is not really smooth, some part of it a bit laggy, i tried to turn off the post-processing but the result is still the same, the field order is correct already.

anyone know how to fix this?

Please post an unprocessed source clip that we can use to analyze your video and duplicate your issue. It could be lots of possible cases, and there's no way for us to guess which applies.

ow... but my movie is actually from dvd, it's shrek 2, i try to convert the soundtrack, it's around 80-100 MB..... so how?

Cut a piece of the VOB that shows your issue (up to 200MBytes) and then upload it to my FTP server and tell me the name of the file here.

can i cut the vob file? the vob file is 120MB... can i just cut it to small part of it not the whole movie? and i don't think my network admin allow ftp connection :(

if you want i can send it through email..but it's too troublesome i have to split it to 10MB files..... =((

btw, i just check from my previous thread, you said that if i still got the artifact even i used the telecide it means its not fully progressive right?

i just realized that i still got artifact on it, even though it's said that it's a progressive video from dgindex though...so do i still need to use telecide for it and combine it with fielddeinterlace or how?

That's a strange version of Shrek2! It has Shrek2 footage inter-cut with a video of some guy singing. What's that all about?

Anyway, the guy singing portions are pure interlaced, and the Shrek portions are field-blended PAL from an NTSC->PAL conversion. Telecide() will not help on this clip. I suggest just deinterlacing. LeakKernelDeint(order=1) looks pretty good.

I see you have AssumeTFF.SeparateFields in your script (commented out). That suggests you inspected the fields. Didn't you see that it was a hybrid of interlaced and field-blended?

One thing to be aware of is that the "Progressive" indication in DGIndex does not reliably tell you the nature of the content. All it tells you is how the pictures were encoded by the MPEG2 encoder.

anyway how do you know that the shrek portion is field-blended one..i mean how can u tell it's field blended or pure interlaced? what's the difference?

hmm.. i tried with leakkerneldeint, it's good on the singing part but for the shrek part i see a bit of ghost effect.. (you see when fiona jump over shrek) is there anyway to fix it?

Do a search on "blended fields".

Inspect the fields and if you see fields with blended pictures then you have field-blended video.

Undoing field blending is difficult. Read the material you get doing the search I mentioned.
