Hello to everybody.
I've been trying to encode several MPEG-1 video files (320x240@29 fps) into a single DivX file with menu using DivX Converter. Everything works during the analyzing/encoding phase, but the program crashes when it's "building DivX menu", and a message appears ("Abnormal program termination").
I've tried with different files and I always get the same error.
Could anybody help me?
Did anybody tried to do a single DivX file with menu from several videos successfully?
Thank you very much!

I've found out what's going on!!!
If you go to \DivX\DivX Converter, you'll see a file called "DivXEncSettings.txt", created every time you encode a file with Converter.
Checking this file created while trying to do a single DivX from several videos, I've seen a line who says:
log file read c:\Program Files\DivX\DivXmap.log
log file write c:\Program Files\DivX\DivXmap.log
My problem is that directory doesn't exist in my hard disk, because I use WinXP in Spanish (so that instead of c:\Program Files, I have c:\Archivos de programa).
But I've created the directory "C:\Program Files\DivX" and... it doesn't crash anymore!!
Please, open your "DivXEncSettings.txt" file created after a crash and check the line which says something about "DivXmap.log" to see the directory that you must create.
Maybe this happens to everybody who has a non-English version of Windows XP
I hope this works for you!

Did you activate the option "combine" after pushing the button "View list" in the Converter, after adding all the files?
I've encoded 2 MPEG-1 videos (with the same resolution and the same frame rate) into 1 and it works perfectly, with its menu.
I hope this helps you!

found something.
divxconverter says that it wont creat menus with vob files but i discovered that by renaming the vobs to .mpeg it converts them and creats a menu as well.

Thats intresting - So theoretically you could rename all the VOB files from a DVD Rip and recreate the entire DVD? Intresting - I'm going to have to try that out.

divxconverter says that it wont creat menus with vob files but i discovered that by renaming the vobs to .mpeg it converts them and creats a menu as well.
But the group of VOBs is a whole movie, so why convert them in a DivX with menu? The cut points will be completely random. I find logical that Converter doesn't do that by default.

But that's not necessary! If you rip the VOBs in IFO mode, Converter will encode the whole movie into one *.divx file, without menu. The option "combine" is disabled because the VOBs are not "independent" files, but they are a continuous movie, so you don't need a menu. The option "combine" should be used, for example, to encode several episodes of a TV series into a single DivX file and select which episode to play with the menu.

The DivX Converter error when encoding several clips into a single DivX file with menu was fixed in the last version (DivX Converter 1.0.2):
