I recently tried to watch an encode made around 2002-2003, but I astonishingly found out that it's unwatchable although I had no problem copying it from the CD. The problem is that I can't view anything except the key frames; imediately after every I-frame the image blurs and rapidly acumulates blocking artifacts until it's unwatchable.
As far as MPEG4Modifier can tell it's encoded using interlaced (the source was a footage from a DV cam - resized to 720x544), MPEG quantizer matrix, at constant quant 4.
I found some threads that (at least I think) described similar problems due to a bad build that created a non-compliant MPEG-4 stream whan using interlacing, but I couldn't find any XviD builds from that time (and I don't have tham anymore, either); I also tried to use "Use old XviD interlacing bug" as workaround in ffDShow but it didn't work either.
Does anybody have any idea how to get around this? Or at least where can I find old XviD builds and/or source code?
