I have a .avi and the sound does not match the video! I can't just use Interleavin, because at the beginning it is fine, but the end is totally off!

Do I have to extract the .wav from the video, and do somthing with it??

Thanks..

I used GSpot to get the file information:

Video:
Bitrate: 761 kb/s
FPS: 29.970
QF: 0.073 bits/pixel
Codec 4CC: DIVX
Codec Name: DivX 4 (OpenDivX)

Audio Name: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3

Stream Type and A/V Interleave:

Type: OpenDML AVI
IMRR: 1.00
I/L: 1 vid frame (33 ms) Split: Yes

Do I have to extract the .wav from the video, and do something with it?? Yes. If the creator of the AVI messed up the sync, you'll have to stretch or compress the audio to match the video. One possible audio editor for that is CoolEdit, IIRC.

From your description, it seems that you are suffering from a gradual loss of sync. You can try this guide and see how that works:

Is it possible for me to strip the .wav from the .mpg using Virtual DUb, and re-encode the whole movie to make it match?

If so does anyone know any good tuturials on how to do this?

Thanks, Mark

You've received 2 replies telling you what a common solution is - i.e. correct the audio.

To correct the video you can try changing the fps in vdub (video, framerate), but you will end up with a non-standard framerate (i.e., not 23.976, 25 or 29.97).

you know what I think is really weird.... every mpg I download never plays in a player...

I always have to open up Virtual Dub to play it, and than it says parsing......

Is there somthing wrong on my computer.... it used to play mpgs, avi's play fine....

Possible?
