View Full Version : Serial numbers and registration

Hi everyone,

Since we launched DivX 6 we've discovered one or two issues that you should be aware of regarding serial numbers and registration:

If you copy and paste your serial number from the web store or e-mail purchase confirmations a space character may be added at the end of the code (i.e. it will look like "xxxxxxxxx " instead of "xxxxxxxxx"). This can cause your serial number to be rejected when you click "Register". Make sure you remove any extra spaces as you enter the serial number into the registration box.
If you choose to buy the DivX 6 Create Bundle, get to the web store, and then manually add the DivX Converter MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in to your cart, you will receive two seperate serial numbers through the web store and e-mail confirmations. You might have problems registering both of these at once from the trial windows in DivX Pro or DivX Converter. Instead, use the "Register Products" link in the DivX group on your Start menu.

We're looking into both of these issues right now and we'll make sure they're fixed up in future :)

Hm, can't you simply strip leading/trailing spaces from the serial in a newer binary?

Could help the issue without hassle on the user side.

Cheers

Absolutely, we can fix both of these issues in a new binary. We just need to build it, QA it, and roll it out (which takes longer than you might think, we have a lot going on :)).

Not at all. If you're honest and you like DivX and you want to support our team then you're going to pay for it. If you're the type that never pays for anything, whatcha gonna do? :) We wanted to make the experience as good as possible for honest users.

If you're using a keygen all I can ask is that if you find DivX useful, please consider donating $20 to it's future by buying a copy of DivX 6 Create.

I've edited the last two posts -- the second, because it quoted the first.. We don't support discussion of warez, even by reference.

Hajj or D-Al, if you would like further explanations as to my edit, feel free to PM me.
