I got 3 512 sticks in my pc. Which is 1.5gb, overkill however it was so damm cheap. I'm thinking of makeing a ramstick with the remaining 512, but what should I use it for?

you could leave it in your machine and run more crap... that's what i'd do. you can never have too much RAM.

Apart from sticking it in a PC there is not much use for ram. Only a few other devices use dimm's and are (sometimes) upgradable. I used ram from old PC's to upgrade the memory in my laserprinter, and I have a hardware RAID controller that has it's own 256 Mb on-board cache. Very nice, I never have to defragment before capping :)
But that is about it.

Just install ZoneAlarm and some vb based stuff like Azures !!!
This should eat ~1GB if you run it 24/7... ^^

Azureus is java based... but uses looots of memory, that's right...
Well... guess it'll be the fault of the writing cache --> less work for the harddisc
concerning the extra RAM: Leave it in your PC, you can always need more RAM :)
Try running Linux, it always uses up my RAM

Uhm, you're right... ^^;
Guess I mixed it up with a different program !?!
I run Azureus, Chatzilla, AVG and ZoneAlarm 24/7, eats ~ 1GB... >.<

How do you like ZoneAlarm? I downloaded the trialware version and am thinking of buying it. Program control, firewall, etc. everything but anti-virus. (I use Norton for anti-virus) Would you recommend it?
I know it's a bit OT but I would really like to know.

I've been using it for about 2 years now with no problems.

I have Norton Internet Security installed on one of my other computers.
It uses a lot of memory. Does ZoneAlarm use less memory that my Norton setup?
Regards,:)
ps. I have one gig memory, 2.4 celeron and XP OS

As longer ZoneAlarm runs, as more RAM it eats !!!
Restarting it every 48h seems to help... ^^;

is that even possible?

zonealarm + emule is a bad combination. zonealarm's "vsmon.exe" process consumes most of your CPU and RAM, and doesn't leave much left for encoding.

1,5 GB of RAM is NOT overkill. It just would calm down the swapping on some of my bigger AVS-Scripts a little bit.
I currently have 768 MB RAM, which is ALWAYS full. Thanks to WinXPs crappy memory management (systemcache eats all memory....)

Systemcache should eat all memory. Any unused memory just means there's that much data you'll have to read again from disk instead of using the cached copy.
That said, I have no experience with WinXP's memory management in particular. If you're saying it eats all memory and doesn't free it instantly when an app wants some, then that's the problem.

If you don't like Zonealarm, who do you like or use? Or, who would you recommend? Sygate, Norton, etc. Who, in your opinion?
Regards,:)
edit: I bought ZoneAlarm Pro today.
