I have noticed after encoding a DVD to and AVI (with DivX or XviD) , that the volume is low. It could be an issue with my laptop (or filters).

one thing, after installing DivX6, it got worse.

My question is this. Is there a software out there that can boost the volume of a AVI on the fly...I.E..while playing in Media player .

TIA

Yup. Install new AC3FILTER, give it high priority*Prefer AC3FILTER in settings, and make
sure that there is "PCM" option is tagged(Properties>Use AC3FILTER FOR..). Afterwards
in "main" window set gain to volume you like.

Or you can get virtual dub, load the avi on it and demux the audio(to wav) and video(direct stream copy function) then get Audacity load the wav into it and theres a function there to amplify the volume, do that, save as mp3.

multiplex the mp3 and the avi with virtuadub and save as direct stream copy.

whole process takes about 15 minutes (all of it)
