VMR and AviSynth

Is there anyway to use VMR-7/9 with AviSynth?

My goal was to use the VMR deinterlacer on a DV clip and then crop and filter with AviSynth. I made a graph in GraphEdit, but obviously it did not work since AviSynth has no pins to connect to.

I'm thinking this is impossible since VMR uses your video card to render, but I just thought I would ask. Thanks.

You can use DirectshowSource to open GRF files. Look at its description in the documentation.

IMHO you could find more robust and flexible deinterlacing features in avisynth filters like neuron2's decomb package and tritical's TDeint & TIVTC.

Thanks, but unfortunately AviSynth doesn't seem able to open grf files with the vmr renderer included in the graph. Like I said in my first post, the vmr renderer has no out pins for AviSynth to connect to, so you get the error "DirectShowSource: the filter graph manager won't talk to me".

For the DV clip I'm working with, VMR seems to deinterlace it the best. :eek:

I guess it's not able to work with AviSynth.


EDIT: After trying to figure this out for a couple hours, I just realized that I could encode it interlaced and then play it back in a player that supports VMR. :rolleyes:
