View Full Version : Microsoft WMV9 VCM 2-pass problem

I use 2-pass VBR to encode. I point it to where I want the file. When I try to do the 2nd Pass, it won't let me. It keeps crashing VDubMod with a "kernel32.dll" error.

Can anybody shed any light on this? This is kinda important as I want this ready for my codec test.

So VP7 won't do 2 passes.
x264 won't do 2 passes.
WMV9 VCM won't do 2 passes.

Anyone see a pattern?

I have been unable to shed light on my problem. I'm gonna bug Microsoft about it. Though I doubt I'll get any sympathy from them!

a kernel32 error means its time to reinstall windows ....

or try VD 1.6, it works on my 98 when VDM don't....

Kudos to all 98 users....

Ah well, perhaps you are right.

Interestingly I did manage to get it working, but only after the 1st Pass was re-done. The time for the 2nd pass was shocking, about 5 hours to encode 22 mins!

Too bloody right. 5 hours to encode 22 mins. That is painfully slow, especially on my computer! What's it gonna be like encoding 2 hours?

I'll post some of the results for my codec test soon to show just how bad WMV9 is. Still got many more to do though. :(
