Hi,

I am trying to put some of my divx/xvid movies on to vcd but haven't done this before so please bear with me.

I'm learning to use DVD2SVCD at the moment but am not sure what settings to use. Ideally I'd like to have the movies on 1 or at most 2 vcds. The movies are 700mb and I was wondering what the quality would be like on 1 vcd?

If anyone could recommend some settings (bitrate, no. of CDs etc.) then I would be very grateful.

Thanks.

Pretty gruesome in all probability.
In fact VCD specs state that the video has to be at a constant bitrate of 1150kbps.
At this bitrate you cannot fit 2 hours on a single CD.

If you lower the bitrate and use variable bitrate, you could stretch to 2 hours but the result would not be a standard-compliant VCD. Chances are your DVD player will play it if it supports VCD but the quality would most likely be horrid.

The most you are likely to get on a CD-R is 75 minutes using the standard vcd specifications.

I have seen ads for new LG dvd players/recorders that are supposed to play DivX/XviD/MP4 (the actual words "DivX", "XviD", and "MP4" appear in the ad)

If you are willing to check these out, it might be worth it for you to wait and not bother reducing the quality of your video even more...
