oversized video

hi, i switched every option explained in

but i still get an oversized file. my twopass 1st pass has 232mb target size. but i get around 300mega's.
the quality is really important and filesize have to be exactly the same. as 232

whats should i do? reduce the quantizer?
myproceessing is very very slow so i cant foresee the exact filesize. for now its at %5 and projected filise is about 260 and 8 hours to go :(

What do you mean by that? You can't target the size during the first pass process. It's done before the second pass. I assume you just say: target = 232 MB

1) what is the first pass size (use the StatReader after the first pass).
2) is your file video-only or video+audio. If last choice then did you take account of the audio?

Yess. i even added the subtitle.

There are 2 methods, not to be used at the same time: did you use one THEN the other?i tried method 1(Overflow treatment values tweaking) with 10 as overflow values and still it get oversized.
and for method 2(2. Quantizer capping) i have min Q3 frames as value and i have I/B/P average 3.00/3.00/4.00

i dont see where the problem is :(

From what I (mis?)understood here:
- 232 MB is the first pass size, so is the constant quantizer 2 size.
- 300 MB is too big

There still a point I'm missing: what is the size you want to achieve?

Try this: instead of telling the TARGET SIZE you want to get, tell XviD the TARGET BITRATE you want... (use the built-in calc and do not forget the audio). This might be useless but IIRC I had issues by using Target Size instead of Target Bitrate...

edit: my last assumption sounded silly. I tested it and Target Size works perfectly. Sorry...

Original file has:
213 MB (224.132.398 bytes) video
26,6 MB (27.896.576 bytes) audio

and all i want a filtered /reencoded video with sub [36,7 KB (37.652 bytes)]

i did that firstpass thing. and my stat file indicates the size of video 232(MB)
then in the bit rate calculator looks like this:

and when i do that second pass, with Q3, minQ3 and all overflow managment options set to 10, i get a final with (+-)300MB.
i want it to be something in between 230-238 mb

If I get that right, and you have for the 2nd pass a "zone" setting of quant=3, then you definetly should change that to "weight=1.0" ... and set all quantizer restrictions to "min=2" and "max=31", in the "advanced..." dialog.

nothing changes. it tried it with weight=1.00 and i still get around 300 megas.

any other suggestions? please its quite urgent.

I don't understand that. You have a 1st pass size of 232MB's, but you get 300MB's for the 2nd with quants capped at 2? How can the 2nd pass be larger without quant 1's?

me neighter. i dont see where the problem is. how come i have a more large file?
my stats file as attachement: must erase ".zip" extention and open with a winrar.

They haven't been approved by a mod yet. so no link is available.

On a little sidenote I think xvid might have a concience lol. PErhaps it won't let him shrink it that small as it would be a travesty to video encoding....lol no huh. anyway you should also try setting your quantizations to 2-31, 2-31, 2-31 as sometimes the defaults can cauase oversized files.

Please do properly post all your settings (first the first pass, then the second pass). Also make sure your statsfile has enough space on the drive/folder where you put it. If it is truncated it will most likely produce an oversized 2nd pass...

i have 4.7g for all of this .i think it should be enough.

Things look well so far - although you're using the subtitles as "burned in" ones so you don't need to add extra space for them (we're just talking about ~30kb anyways).

Please use the given file size instead of a bitrate, this might help as well - i don't use the built-in calculator usually as it may have one or the other bug.

Please report back if that changes something.

Wait a sec - just found in your virtualdub conf file this line:

VirtualDub.stream[0].SetSource("D:\\denemeses1.wav",0x00000201);

Could you please disable the audio stream? It'll be stored as wav this way and takes the space that you describe as "oversize". You can simply disable the stream on the readily encoded file and mux the mp3 stream which will lead to your desired size.
