I have successfully backed up many movies. I use decrypter in file mode ( I like this setting better than iso) and then use shrink and finish with nero. I have the most recent verisons of decrypter, shrink, and nero v.6.3. I just finished off a pack of dvd-rs and started a new pack of same brand and type (which could be problem). My dvd player is at least 6 years old, I just cleaned it to see if that was the problem and same problem persisted (also thought might be another problem)

Movie #1-- Johnson Family Vacation
Movie #2-- Are We There Yet?

Now the problem..
Some movies that we recently burned are having problems playing in the dvd player. Movie #1 will play and is very choppy in the dvd player, but plays perfect on the pc. Movie #2 will hang the dvd player and will hang the pc. Movie #1 makes me think something wrong with the player but, movie #2 makes me think its the discs.

I did some searching on here and found to try to slow the burning down so I did and still same problem.

Any help is appreciated :thanks:

Go Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=94725) to this thread. I think you will find your answer. Also, make sure you download the DVD Identifier Here (http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/) .

I read that post and still no help. It states to use whatever works for you, and these are exactly the same brand. I downloaded that dvd identifier and here is what it stated..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:ONIDTECH]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [UL TRAN Technology & Service Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [ONIDTECH]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tested 1 of the 50 I have already done that work perfect and it stated the same thing as the bad one and as a brand new never been used one out of the new pack I just opened. This makes me think that its not the brand of the disc, I thought maybe I just ran into a few problem discs.

I read through all of that and you said that 40% of your movies are bad? This is my first and second bad one out of 50. Don't get me wrong I'll take any help I can get. I am going to try and take these 2 movies to someone else's house and play them or duh, nm I will try them in my xbox. I will get back to you..

My xbox (thought of just because of your user name) plays them both just fine, now to look for a new dvd player thank you for your help. Never thought my Apex would let me down, it has played everything I have thrown at it. Now to get the newest player that plays everything. Thanks again

That's not a true player, (xbox). It's a dvd rom like you fined on a pc. a stand alond player and a dvd rom are to diffrient hardware, I but still try it on a diffrent player.
