Assign the current frame number to a variable.

I want to do an Avisynth statemment like this:
F=(number of current frame)

Can't find syntax anywhere. Maybe because it's undoable?

Project:
The variable are needed to extract the apropiate subtitle, form within a text file, to be scrolled from right to left beneeth the picture on a
black border. That way it's easy to read. Only need one line for long texts. And easy to later crop out, should I ever want to.

you will have to use scriptclip or frameevaluate with current_frame. Take a look in the docs.
