Hi there
I use agk 2.09b.
I have a 16/9 ntsc source. There is more then one video that I encode (episodes of a serie).
I fixed the horizontal size to 720 and a fixed size of 280mb per ~20 minute episode.
For the first episode size 720x400 was chosen, but for the second
720x416 was chosen. Why is that?
Thanx

It could be the auto-cropping - I've had a similar problem with Gordian Knot, where cropping left/right by one too many clicks changes output from 640 x 480 to 640 x 496. The problem occurred because each episode of the same series needed different crop settings. If I remember AutoGK (I only used it a couple of times before I uninstalled it because it was too auto) you can force an output more easily by setting it to multiples of 32. That's how I solved it with Gordian Knot, anyway.

it is autocrop. If you want to have uniform cropping then disable autocrop in hidden options by setting threshold to 0 and set manual crop values.
