I have recived my first spindel TY 8x silver laqure dvd-r But the spindle package says that it's a new format and not to use on burners that don't support it. I have an LG HL-DT-ST dvd GSA 4160b firmware is a303

How do I know that it will work.

We are not aware of any new format of DVD-R.

Go to the site VideoHelp (http://www.videohelp.com) and look in their DVD Recorders section for properties of the LG HL-DT-ST dvd GSA 4160b. It's possible the Disc spindle package is talking about the DVD-R format itself, and, of course, a DVD Recorder capable of writing in the '-' format will only do. If you know your LG HL-DT-ST dvd GSA 4160b to have that capability, then you may go ahead and burn one disc to see what happens.
