how about following the news where every now and then you can read about on-the-fly decryption layers that are constantly updated?

There isn't an alternative to DVD Decrypter that is even nearly as good as DVD Decrypter. So your best off sticking with DVD Decrypter for a good while yet.

I believe anydvd is a good alternative, the catch is it's not free :D

I will use dvddecrypter untill it no longer works. As doom9 stated their are 3 on the fly software programs stated on the news site as soon as you come to www.doom9.org

AnyDVD will, for the purposes of removing protection, do everything DVD Decrypter did. In fact, Olli (author of AnyDVD) recommends using them together by:

1. Turning off structure protection removal/detection in DVD Decrypter.
2. Changing DVD Decrypter's IO method to elbycdio.

:)

Of course, AnyDVD costs money. Is there another good FREE alternative to DVD Decrypter? Umm... no.
