I see many threads on H.264 encoding in the "new codecs" section. Quite a few encoding tools are at the stage of active development.
And i personally have a lot of questions on producing and playing back *.mp4 content incl. AAC and AVC.
Maybe it's the time to add a new section in the "MPEG-4 and Co." named "H.264 encoding"?

first of all the thing should be called AVC (marketing name I know.. but still.. (the fact that I don't like the ITU nomenclatura a lot doesn't help either). And then.. MP4.. container so it goes to the container forum... AAC = audio forum. I guess you see the problem now. A dedicated AVC encoding forum has been under consideration for a while but hasn't moved either way (the issue has come up in this very subforum before).

I see now.
Well, then there's an option for the
* general "MPEG-4 production issues"
* and "MPEG-4 production software development",
like the GordianKnot forum sections.
Those sections could cover all the questions on the encoding/decoding software and techniques - on all the parts of the MPEG-4 standard at once, as a whole thing :)

not gonna happen. There's not going to be a "one for everything" forum.. that is way too confusing. It is good that people do have to learn what parts of a whole they're dealing with by having to pick the proper forum. Doing so shows that they've already grasped some of the basic concepts.

Well, obviously it was going to happen :)
