View Full Version : Is MuxMan no longer freely available?

I just came off the MuxMan page and noted that to download the beta version I need a subscription.

Will this be only for the beta versions or will this apply to all MuxMan releases from now on? It seems odd to charge people to beta test your software and then give away the stable version for free...

Muxman is just changing the way testing is done, and the path to becoming free. Alpha testing always required membership, now the beta's will be for members only too until ready to be released.
There currently is a free version, 0.14, and there always will be a free version. It just won't be the latest, or have all the functions you crave.

I suppose that's one way to look at it, but in reality the charge is to get new features which have been well tested by the alpha testers sooner.

I got thinking a little more about this, and you're right - in a way. We (the alpha testers and myself) spent nearly a month testing, debugging, and revising version 0.15 I expect the number of bugs discovered will be few, if any. Far fewer than some commercial products that have been released, at least. So it isn't really right to call this a Beta test, it really should be called an advanced version.
0.15 will, someday, be free. But by then there will be a new advanced version.

If i remember correctly we got to 0.15N before RC1, now thats a lot of revisions, but well worth it :D
