I bought a musicvideo DVD and shall extract the songs to be used in a VJ session, problem is that my PC , running winXP pro Sp2, wont even see the disc.
It works perfect in standalone players but not in my pC.
Dvddecrypter, smartripper,nero.. noting is found, reacts like if there wasn no DVDdisc in my drive (LG dvd-ram)
Does anybody in here know how to get pas this protection?

if you've got an old DVD-ROM lying around you could plug it in and try that.. what sort of disc is it? you said "LG DVD-RAM", but it's not clear to me if this was the disc or the drive you're reading on.
note that -R media burnt on lite-on or sony drives will have difficulty being read in any other drives. you'll need to just keep ejecting and re-entering the disc until the computer sees something (a very annoying and frightening problem with lite-on based drives... i burnt an entire system backup onto -R discs only to find i couldn't read any of them. that's not something i wish on anybody, except maybe lite-on and sony employees...)
so could you tell us (where appropriate) what the source of the disc is (is it recordable? burnt on what? what sort of media, etc. anything relevant. don't worry about it if it's a commercial disc though) and what kind of drive you're reading it on.

I have an LG and I had similar problems, leave the disc in the drive and re-boot, and see if it recognizes it after that.
Make sure you have an 80 pin cable connected to your dvd drive (the one that came with it) and not an older 40 pin one. It makes a difference!

This protection is strange .... Still no clues on how to override? Perhaps in Linux? I dont know that OS at all but I will try this weekend. must be a way to detect these DVDs
