Hello !
I am fairly new to avisynth usage and was wondering if it is possible to transcode MPEG footage of 640x480 30fps, to some more appropriate editing format like avi (DV, uncompressed...etc). The avi should be either NTSC or PAL format (again I guess NTSC as the y dimension of this source is the same). If so what would be the most appropriate script to do it ?

I obtained the footage through sony camera T3 and would like to eventually finish with a DVD, which plays on standalone player and TV.

My next question is if there is a filter for avisynth, which adds timcode to a video stream?

regards ivanski

You might need to install the latest avs beta (v2.56b4) though.

i wrote a little script that displays SMPTE on a shaded box in the bottom of screen, in a way that mimics a lot of pro video decks' "super" output.

it has problems with anything but pal TC and milliseconds though, so i wont post it. i can't wrap my head around drop-frame rules and how to derive the correct code from a frame number. once this is figured out, i'll post it here :)

however, i believe there's an internal avisynth filter that does the same thing, only in yellow font on the top of the screen. could still be useful for subtitling and stuff.

btw, if you're using premiere, you can load avisynth directly into it using a free plugin (google "premiereAVSplugin".. i can't remember the proper name atm).
