First, thanks to all who have contributed and made this site/forum so informative. I've spent the past month lurking/reading here, finding many answers to questions that came along as I tried to encode backups of DVDs. I did register here weeks ago, intending to post a question, but never got up the courage to do so... :scared: (Not to mention the fact that I don't know what the heck was wrong with me the day I chose my username... now I really regret it, but I must've been deliriously tired at the time and now it's too late to change it. Oh well.)
Okay, so here goes my first posted questions:
I've been using GKnot version 0.35.0 which seems to have included Decomb version 5.1. After coming to a point where I believe I finally am understanding better about telecining, interlacing, when to IVTC, etc, I'm wondering if it's beneficial to upgrade the Decomb that comes with GKnot to the latest version (5.2.1).
Also, if I just went ahead and renamed the file from Decomb521.dll to decomb.dll would this be the simplest way to replace the older version of Decomb? Or would this cause problems?
It seems like the newest Decomb just has an improved Decimate function, but I was worried if there were any syntax changes or something else that would be incompatible with the GKnot generated avs.
TIA!
