I've just installed my NVIDIA MX-200 video card.
I can see my desktop image in the TV set but no image
for any AVI or MPEG player.
mplayer classic, wmplayer , or any, only show
a black player screen.
When using VirtualDub or Nandub on capture mode, the only way
to see the image on the TV set is changing to PREVIEW mode.
In OVERLAY mode the VDub screen appears black too.

I did search a lot about it, but no specific solution.

Can someone help me?

Thanks

I have the same problem both on a GeForce 4 4600 and on a Radeon 9800, tried
different catalyst/nvidia drivers but always the same problem of having a black-screen if trying to playback a movie on TV via S-video.

Using Graphedit and testing all the DivX decoders I have installed in DirectShow I discovered that some of them can work.

It seems that overlay and preview mode have influence.

Is it possible to set FFDSHOW filter to preview mode?

Thanks

Overlay is a known problem on secondary monitor outputs. The only easy solution I know is to switch to the tv as a (second) primary output. The downside is that your monitor will be set to the same resolution as the tv screen. I personally don't care about it because I only use the tv to watch videos and then I don't need the monitor simultaneously.
