I am getting the following message while trying to encode.

"FastWriteSteam: couldn't open "<path>\ep1.avi": The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"

When I first got the message i restarted both my computers on the network, and tried again, got the same message. I'm pretty sure it happens in both Xvid and Divx. (I just tried in Xvid and am reruning a test in divx *yep, happens in divix too).

I've sucessfully used AutoGK in the past, and don't know why this would all of a sudden crop of. It does this in several versions, including 1.95 and 2.86b.

Any tips for tracking down, what is using the file?

Is the source file name "ep1.avi" and in the same directory you're trying to place the encode?

No the source name is VTS_01_1.vob but it is in the same folder as I have set to output the file.

I'm having the exact same problem. "File is in use by another process." And i've tried encoding the same files on another machine and still it gives me that error right before the 2nd pass kicks in. It doesn't have anything to do with permissions either because i've tried saving it in the same dir, same problem, and i've tried saving to my documents (because by OS default i should have read/write permissions) still the same.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!

Be careful when using that version of vdubmod (1.5.10.1). It is not guranteed to work (for some configurations). I'd rather recommend disabling antirus...

Thanks. I did lots of searching, but some reason those threads didn't come up.
