Capture Avi problem

Hi i just captured my school project in raw avi. So then i converted it to xvid i found out that adobe premiere does not support xvid videos. So is there any way to convert my raw avi to divx high quality. with software like Gordian knot where you specify the size and quality. I did try to convert the raw avi to divx with nero encorder but i wasnt sure how to set the divx encoding options like what bitrate would give the good quality. The video length 15.07.20

You might get a quicker reply by posting a DivX question in the DivX forum.

But anyway, onto the question. The highest quality you can get with mpeg-4 encoding is by encoding at constant quantiser 1. The file would be massive tho, so you're better off encoding at quantiser 2, since i doubt you could see any different in the video between the two.

What do you mean by raw? Uncompressed RGB / YUV?

15h 7min 20s or 15min 7s 20f? I assume the latter because you would have to have a HUGE hdd for capturing 15h uncompressed video (unless you're using a tiny resolution).

Anyway reencoding it to XviD / DivX or any other lossy codec with delta frames is not recommended especially if you wan to edit it in Premiere (big no-no).
Compress it with HuffYUV or Lagarith. If you're using Premiere Pro then the long load time is normal because audio is resampled to 32bit.

Huh? If you're planning to edit it with Premiere dont use XviD / DivX etc.
