Hi,
I'm trying to reencode some of my MPEG-1 movies to xvid to save space. However, when using xvid 2pass encode on some of the MPEG-1 movies, VirtualDubMod gives me errors on the passes, resulting in an unwatchable AVI. Does anyone know why?
Thanks!

Umm, what are the exact errors that you are encountering?

Well, in the Vdubmod Job Control window, under "Status", I get an "Error". I don't really know what the error is, since vdubmod doesn't tell me.

Double-click on it. It will show you the reason for the error.

The Error is "Error decoding MPEG frame xxxxx(xx:xx): incomplete frame"

I think you omitted an important keyword while reproducing the error message, which is "audio". The full error message is "Error decoding MPEG audio frame xxxxx(xx:xx): incomplete frame", right?
This means that the xxxxx frame in your MPEG-1 is corrupted. I suggest using VCDGear (http://www.vcdgear.com/download.html) on it and do an mpg->mpg conversion. Also read this (http://www.vcdgear.com/faqQA.html#2.14) tip before you use VCDGear. After running VCDGear on it, it should report if has fixed any MPEG errors and if so, how many.
Also check this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81335) thread.
