Prodater64 over at VMesquita Forums has very generously written an app that will allow users to select 1 to 5 passes when using FreeEnc v.0.44 with DVD-RB. It also makes it compatable with the 'cmatrix' option DVD-RB PRO passes to QuEnc when the 'Main Feature Matrix' is set to 'Encoder Default' and all the other matrix selections set to the 'Same...' so that FreeEnc can be used with the Pro version as well as the free one.

You can find Prodater64s Free3nc app here:

Whoa...! :scared: 5 passes with a libavcodec based encoder?

I have found QuEnc with every version and matrix to have a bad blurry tendence, give me a very good quality .ini for FreeEnc and I'll try.
(freeenc hasn't satisfied me too)
But... I doubt, HC .14 is quite better on everything.

In my very limited experience on very low bitrate encodes, QuEnc with HQ, Trellis and Extreme&Slow settings was giving the best results - better than HC 0.14. Some posts here recommended FreeEnc as faster and better at multi-tasking than Quenc. I tried it, but it seemed to me I needed more than two passes to equal the quality of QuEnc. At 5 passes I find FreeEnc takes half the time that QuEnc does with all those settings ticked and without hogging the processor.

Free3nc installs only the Peter_Cheat.ini - I don't know of a better one.

Hi:
@cobo: I have not read your post and I think I semi duplicate threads.
I'm sorry, I post here 3-4-5 Free3nc utility.

There are also a previous Incredible ini file, but last realeased is the Peter Cheat one.
I would like to know how faster is FreeEnc compared with HC.
I am working now with HC 0.14, trying to obtain OPV, with a prediction pass. I think, If me or anybody else can reach that, it will be quicker than 5 FreeEnc passes.
I can't say nothing about quality.
