Need a tool for video identification.

I really, really need a tool that tells me what kind of video I have in a file. It should tell me whether it's an avi (which codec), a m2v, a mpeg, a vob, no matter what extension the file has got.

What can help me, besides VDub?

Very good codec information utility - tells you everything, no matter what extension the file has. I just tried with .txt, .bin and .mpg for an avi file and it works like a charm (detects "OpenDML AVI 2.0" plus everything else like codec, bitrate, resolution, audio...)
