Has anyone backed up The Patriot using ProCoder2 and DVD-RB?
Everytime I back this movie up I get strange effects at the same spots in the movie. They are all within the last five chapters of the movie. I get flickering at some spots and when I try to jump to certain chapter points the movie sound is off and the movie stutters or flickers for five seconds and then finally kicks in and plays.
It does this with my standalone Sony and Cyberhome and a little with my LG, but on my Yamakawa,Toshiba,Daewoo,Phillips,Sampo and Apex it's ok.
My backup of this movie has been doing this for the last 6 or 7 versions of DVD-RB. I've tried backing up the whole DVD and tried using Shrink and now DVD-RB movie only and the same problem everytime.

One word... Media... if some players like it and some don't and you are getting the same results from DVD-RB and DVDShrink...Media... try some diff discs, see if that helps

Well actually I was using Shrink to strip the menu and extra's and using DVD-RB to do the rest but now DVD-RB does all that with the movie only feature and I get the same results with both ways. I have been using TY media all along.

maybe burning speed, I have several burner and one of them is a lite-on... if I burn at anything above 2/2.4 my pioneer dvd player (DV-05) will not play it.... it use to work at any speed but I think it (lite-on burner) has got a little tried.

I don't know where are you from or if this is your problem but here in Portugal there are plenty of fake TY layer media, specially DVD-R 8X identified as TYG02.

In case it turns out not to be a media issue. Any chance you have The Patriot in Region 2 (http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=88506&p=57&g=72&pa=sr)? I have that one and could try it on my picky sony player.

I'm using the TY value disks (SuperMedia-Store,Shop4Tech...) and burned all of my copies of the Patriot at 4x. I also used various burners, a Pioneer109,BenQ1620,Nec3500,LG4163 and a Plextor708A.
I'm using the Region-1 DVD disk.
Yea my Sony is the pickiest out of the bunch and then my Cyberhome and sometime the LG. I always play the disk on my Sony first and if no problems then I know it will play on almost any DVD player out there.
If the disk has problems on the Sony then I try it on the Cyberhome to make sure it's the disk and the Cyberhome player always has the same problems as the Sony. After the Cyberhome the disk goes to the LG and usually the LG has the least trouble but still has some glitch's playing the disk. The rest of my Stand-alones usually play the disk fine.
