I have had it happen before and never found out why... just used a diff encoder but I think I found the problem.

I was redoing Spanglish and had Half-D1 on and during enocding of the extras CCE SP 2.50 locked up during the m2v pass.... after a reboot restarted dvd-rb and lockup again.... well look in the item.ecl files and the min bitrate was the same as the avg bitrate (500) and it seems CCE SP 2.50 doesn't like that.... well raised the avg bitrate to 600 in the rebuilder.ecl file and restarted dvd-rb and no problems.... stopped the encoding and open the rebuilder.ecl and changed the avg back to 500 and drop the min bitrate to 0.... restarted dvd-rb, again no problems.

So it seems (for me and maybe others) CCE SP 2.50 and maybe other ver don't like min and avg bitrate to be the same.

Try DVD-RB 0.93.2? Let us all know.

THX, no the problems not dvd-rb....well... CCE SP 2.50 just doesn't like avg and min bitrate to be the same... I have done the movie with HC and QuEnc .61....cce sp 2.50 is a no go... but thank you.

Wow. How could the average bitrate get all the way down to 500Kbs?

Half-D1 and... opps Steal Space From Extras 10%.... just try it with "The Aviator" and set one segment to avg 500 w/min 500.... worked ok with half-d1 off. So maybe it's with half-d1 and avg/min the same.

Edit: well I can't reproduce the problem with other discs and I don't have Spangish any more (my 3 year old nephew thinking it was a frisbee... throw... wall... smash)

I'll add some code that will never let the average bitrate get down to less than the minimum bitrate plus some value...

cce version's 2.6x+ don't have this problem as far as i can tell.

how about a setupable (advanced option) custom minimum average value.

Fishman0919,
Speaking of Spanglish, with the newer Sony protection, I used DVD43 with DVDShrink to first check out the movie.
It choked and froze... and I have the latest DVD43.
Tried it with AnyDVD and Shrink and then AnyDVD and Nero. Same thing.

Calvery Charge playing in the distance. Here comes the giant killer DVD Decrypter to the rescue . Of all those attempts only DVD Decrypter was successful.
Forgive me, I just wanted to tell a story with a happy ending.:)

Regards

P.S. Spanglish, main movie is only 3.89Mbps and 4328Mb, no compression
necessary, although I may try to Upsize it with DVD-RB.

Getting Spanglish to my HD wasn't the problem... or encoding.... just when CCE SP 2.50 hit a segment in the extras that had a avg bitrate the same as the min bitrate (500), cce froze  .... I changed the value of the avg to (600) and cce worked no problem :D ... both HC and QuEnc .61 work on the same segment with no problems... so it lead me to believe that cce sp 2.50 just didn't like avg and min bitate to be the same.

P.S. THX jdobbs
