Hi,

I have a Dell 8600 laptop and my son
has a newer Dell desktop (6 months old).
When I burn on mine all is well and
everything can be played back from
anywhere.

Yet using the same sw

DVD Shrink 3.1.7.6
Dvd Decrypter 3.5.1.0

his burns are unplayable on any source
(dvd player\computer\ps2).

Today I'm going to his house with my lt
to compare sw settings and it's at this
stage I seek assistance.

What could be causing this anomoly?

Codecs\Div-X?

Both of us are running xp sp2.

From memory his burner is 8x and mine is
4x. I asked him to try slowing down the
burn speed on his but I've heard no reply
on that.

Could it be that?

Appreciate all help.

Thanks

Blaine

Most certainly. 'Bad burns' are usually the result of fast burning on bad media or just bad media. Try burning with the same media at different speeds and see what works best. Or try different media. PS2 / DVD-Players can be really picky about this.

you sure the disks you're using are up to 8X speeds?

No.

Further to this..I burn via Nero and the dt didn't have all components so I rectified that. Now I can burn and it will play on the PS2, but not their dvd player.

I also noticed that my burner is +RW and theirs is plus minus (on top of each other) RW. Could this be a factor? Using +RW disks.

ah, then i think that's the problem. dvd+r and dvd+rw are not as compatible as dvd-r. i think. (there definately was a reason i bought dvd-r, can anyone else confirm the compatibility?)

Compatibility of DVD+R burns increases a lot if you set booktype to DVD-ROM.
