hi, my problem is this, on Adobe premiere Pro 1.5, when i insert mpeg video to the timeline it plays very strange in the sequence window, like backwards and forwards, missing frames or jerky, its hard to describe it, the audio is fine and its just the video. avi's are blank wiv no audio? i have all the latest codecs so i dont think thats an issue?
if you know how to solve it please show me coz its doin me head in!!! :scared:
cheers

I had different problem, but maybe it'll help here too.
If you have Powerdvd or Nvdvd players unistall them when you use Premiere.

Yep, same problem here (with Elements). mpg playback is jerky to say the least, while avi's are apparently good. BUT when exporting to avi, no matter what codec you use, the result is in every case an ugly mess. And I've uninstalled NVDVD with apparently no results.

If Elements is anything like the "Pro" version then this is 'normal'. Premiere is a DV/Key-frame only format editor. It doesnt like codecs using P/B-Frames and cant handle them properly. You're best off frame-serving your stuff into Premiere with this http://sourceforge.net/projects/videoeditorskit/

i must say: adobe is very strange!!!
my friend has his pc set the exact same way as mine (software) and his adobe works fine?
wot ive done so far is uninstalled all codecs, checked adobe, still the same! then individually installed the codecs which i needed but still no go? im sure its not a codec problem? it must be something else?

Write to Adobe support:)
edit:
If avi is blank this means that you have xvid instaled:)
Uninstal xvid and instal only divx 5.2.1 and avi should works fine.
