Hi,
(Just wrote all that, and submitting asked for my password, and then it just went to front page, so here I go again, with the second try, ^A^C forever...)
So, the problem I'm experiencing is. When I play files through .BIK player, or using VirtualDubMod, I get the the breaking up sound. On .BIK files it usually a second of sound, followed by a second of silence, and that can start in the middle of the movie, or just in the beginning, but once it started it never stops. With VDubMod, it is pretty much constant, and with faster rate, so sounds like a perforation.
Now, I've contacted TechSupport at radgametools, with no responce. I probably should've posted this to VDub/VDubM forum, but it doesn't look this is specific to them.
So, Vdub: 1.6.5 - works ok. VdubMod 1.5.10.1 - has the issue. .BIK playback has the issue, but none of (Msft) Media Player playback ever had the issue. And I'm playings all kinds of avis, mpgs, ogms and wmvs, including AC3 sound avis, and codec variety is also there. I've got some .BIK working with increasing the frame rate to 35 (from 30), that made the sound gaps dissapear (well, of course it sounded much more funnier too). Interestengly, gaps did not change in width, when I was changing the frame rate. They are the same at 34fps as they are at 36fps, but 35 just does it !
The sound card doesn't want to be blamed, as I get absolutely the same result with embedded ac'97, as well as with an external USB audio, the same file plays in exactly the same way.
I also noticed that in some games, sound will also end up before the graphics for it. Like in a long sound, you would see the action start
after it's sound is already played. So, this looks to me like the audio buffer is just being played too fast, though I have no idea, and I looked, of how to change this.
All of your replies will be greately appreciated. I'm trying to solve this for some time now, and further I go, more clueless and desperate I become. I'll be glad to provide all details of the system this is happening on, any log files, just say what can help.
Thanks !
