I have burned a number of divx files onto dvd with nero with no problem, but with some the playback is jerky, especially when the camera is panning quickly, this doesnt happen when i do a straight back-up of a disk with dvddecrypter, has it got something to do with the framerate? or maybe the speed at which i'm burning the files with nero.

1) Are you burning a data DVD or are you converting an avi to a standard DVD playable on a standalone player?
2) If it's a data DVD, are you playing it on the same PC where the original file resides, and does the original file play smoothly?
3) At what speed is your burner and your media capable of burning, and at what speed did you burn the file?

Then its not a "burned divx file" per your subject, its a DVD (with VIDEO_TS folder and VOB files, in MPEG-2 format, etc.) To make a DVD, the video was resized and encoded in MPEG-2, the audio was transcoded to PCM or MP2 (I'm not sure which Nero chooses), and then the DVD was "authored" to create the .VOB set and the .IFO and .BUP files.
Other than blaming Nero's encoding (which is always possible), you might look to the player, media, and burner databases at www.videohelp.com -- look up your equipment by make and model and your DVD+R/DVD-R media there, you may see comments from other users regarding limitations or incompatibilities.
And, of course, the problem could also be in your source.
