In case this is the wrong subforum please move the thread accordingly, thanks.

Some friends of me and I wanna buy a Laserpod (http://www.laserpod.com) as a birthday present for our common friend who's a geekstuff afficionado. Since we don't have it yet we'd like to give him a gift coupon. Now instead of doing one on paper I thought about giving him one on DVD-R.

There's a small video on that page in Shockwave Flash format (movie.swf). Is there an easy way to convert it to a pal vob? Of course it's got a very small resolution but I'd like to convert it so it appears centered on the screen surrounded by a black frame. I'd create the dvd in dvdlab. Any suggestions on how to do it?

I haven't done swf conversions but I did a google search on what you can convert to. http://www.soft32.com/download_77739.html

After getting an AVI, you can surely work on this to get to converting it as MPG.

I messed with a freeware program called swf>>avi a while back. It lets you select an output framerate, so the conversion would be easy. Oh, it's at www.avi-swf-converter.com (http://www.avi-swf-convert.com/default.asp#).

The potential drawback is that it creates uncompressed avis. Huge! Too bad there's not a DirectShow filter for swf. I wonder if VirtualDub could read swf....

It's quite complicated operation unless you have a special program for this. I dont know the particular program for swf to vob conversion. But there are some programs which can do swf-to-avi and avi-to-vob... I know that Flash to Video Encoder can create an *.avi file from flash animation. And the other prog can be easyly googled...

FFmpeg (http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/) might work for you, it transcodes from virtually any format to another.

Though I'm not sure how long this website will be up...

Chetwood:
You need to use Flash to Video encoder PRO (http://geovid.com/flash_to_video_encoder_pro) This app converts swf to avi, asf, mp4, wmv. Then your final video you can convert to vob with app which you can find here (http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/free-avi-to-vob.html)
